When I first decided to run in 2004, I had no personal agenda. I just wanted to make Fayette County an even better place to live.
I listed five goals in my 2004 campaign literature and I’m pleased to be able to say that I have stuck to them and have made accomplishments in all areas.
ie successful team approach in ED office, good rapport with state IDED officials
ie Kellogg grant work, Northeast Iowa Food and Fitness program agenda
ie implemented Annual Performance Review for department heads; monitored financial reports and took steps to address weak areas; check that FC employees are doing what is reported to the Supervisors
As chairman for 2005 and 2006, we were able to reduce taxes the first year and have a 0 % increase the second year, while still increasing our carryover balance, which had been the lowest among the 99 counties before I was elected.
ie have taken several Emergency Preparedness courses, have worked with the Sheriff to have a strong, efficient law enforcement program, called for better service regarding plowing the snow and ice on our Secondary Roads
In the coming term, I pledge to:
I do not skip meetings. I am there and I am involved.
I am concerned about the devastation caused by recent flooding, especially affecting agriculture and tourism. I will work to attract more grant funding that will allow us to “Go Green” and conserve and protect our precious water and soil. We also need to find alternative sources of energy, such as wind and solar, that we can afford to use and will benefit citizens of Fayette County. It can be done, but it will take a leader with vision to make it so.
